Sports at TU

If you are interested in any kind of organized, physical activity, you will find a wide range of choices in the TU Darmstadt’s sports program. The Unisport-Zentrum (USZ) is responsible for this. It offers all students and staff around 250 sporting activities in 90 sports per week. From fitness events such as aerobics or sweat-fit to ball sports such as badminton and soccer to the more unusual sports such as unicycle field hockey, canoe polo or quidditch (!), much is represented. Often there are special offers for beginners and advanced. The USZ also has a (very popular) gym.

The University Sports Center’s sports offerings are published each semester in a program flyer and on the Internet (https://www.usz.tu-darmstadt.de), where there is also online registration for all courses. The University Sports Center also operates a sports and health center, as well as a fitness studio for students and staff. In addition to these permanent offerings, there are also individual workshops such as scuba diving, rock climbing, or tap dancing.
Most sports are free of charge. You can just sign up, go and join in. For special courses, a small fee must be paid at the USZ.

The most used offer is the outdoor swimming pool in the university stadium. During the summer semester it is usually open and always free of charge. You just have to bring your student ID. The fastest way to get there is by streetcar 2, 9 or of course by bike.

In addition, the student sports department holds internal university championships (IHMs) in various sports, e.g. soccer, badminton, table tennis and volleyball, every semester. Students interested in competing can also participate in German University Championships (DHMs). You can find the announcements and registration dates on the USZ website (IHMs) or at https://www.adh.de (DHMs).
